- The firing of eight U.S. Attorneys, for reasons as yet unclear but certainly somehow including political advantage for the White House. The Justice Department has always been somewhat politicized, but never the offices of the U.S. Attorneys, not like this. Watch for rabid anti-immigration platforms from each of the eight nominees whose names will be submitted for these positions, all to give Republicans a leg up on immigration in the 2008 elections.
